    Adult Advanced-Beginner Classical Ballet

    This class is designed to work basic techniques at a moderate pace, focusing on alignment, placement, and artistry. The class will consist of barré, center, and across-the-floor exercises. Students are encouraged to modify movements if needed and to ask the instructor about proper modifications.
     
    Emphasis on the standing leg, stacking the skeleton, and proper neural recruitment will guide students through exercises on two feet, one leg, relevé, jumps, and turns.
     
    All levels are welcome to join. This will not be a pointe-focused class. If students wish to participate en pointe, we only encourage highly experienced students (3+ years of solid training and strength in center exercises).
     
    Note: absolute beginners are welcome, but this is not a foundations class. Some prior experience is necessary for grasping concepts, terminology, and safe execution of movements.

    Adult Pointe Technique

    Adult Pointe Technique

    This class focuses on specific foot, ankle, and core stability and agility. Whether you're on pointe, going on pointe, or simply wish to work your intrinsic foot muscles, this class offers the nuts and bolts for total control. Class will consist mainly of repetitive barré exercises to instill proper alignment. 

    Ballet is built on repetition—slow and steady wins the race. Safe pointe work is especially built on consistency for skill progression, and we encourage students to maintain open minds and compassion for their toes throughout their pointe journeys.

    ​    Note: this is not a foundations or absolute beginner class. If you have not been approved for pointe shoes through KJAM Studios or another qualified instructor/studio, dancing en pointe may cause serious, lifelong injuries. Prior experience is necessary for grasping concepts, terminology, and safe execution of movements.

    Adult Modern with Marta Lichlyter
    Saturday, 11:00 AM -12:00 PM

    All students required to sign KJAM Studios waiver. Tuition and rates paid directly to Marta Lichlyter. Please fill out the interest form to contact Marta. 

    As a freelance dancer, choreographer, and teacher, Ms. Lichlyter has taught modern and jazz dance at Colorado State University, Western Michigan University, Texas Christian University, University of New Mexico, and Stavanger University in Norway. She has performed professionally with the Pulse Dance Experience, a modern/jazz dance company in Colorado, with Tim Wengerd and Company, a Graham based company, and was a founding member of the aLANDdance Performance Company, a multi-disciplinary company incorporating poetry, dance, music and film. She has studied with Bill Evans, Laban-based technique, Tim Wengard, Graham, and Joann Emmons, Limon and Somatic Studies. Her choreographic works have been presented throughout the United States, Norway, and the Netherlands. She teaches modern dance at Hayden Ballet and KJAM in Albuquerque. Marta Lichlyter holds a Ph.D. in Dance and Related Arts as well as a Masters in Choreography and Dance Education.

    ​Adult Stretch
    Schedule TBD

    This class is designed to create a stable foundation for strength, mobility, and functionality. It will be open to any and all levels and focus primarily on basic body mechanics, alignment, dynamic and static stretches, and a little bit of strengthening sprinkled in. There will be a mixture of standing, seated, and supine positions. 

    Note: our goal is to make this class as safe and accessible as possible. Please let Joe know of any injuries or movement modifications needed to make your in-class experience ideal.
